DESCRIPTION:More Info »\nWDET is partnering with Concert of Colors this year to promote their “In the Neighborhood” concert series. Come celebrate Detroit Tejano music from 1-8 pm on Saturday\, June 28 in Mexicantown! \nWe will be celebrating Michigan’s only historical marker dedicated to the pioneers of Detroit Tejano music as well as feature different styles of Latin music. Come enjoy live music\, dancing and wonderful food. \nTejano music emerged in the mid-19th century along the Texas-Mexico border\, as different musical styles and traditions mixed.  Key instruments include the button accordion\, bajo sexto\, drums\, and other instruments borrowed from mariachi\, norteño\, and conjunto music. Tejano encompasses a wide range of styles\, including corridos (ballads)\, conjuntos (ensembles)\, rancheras (rural-life songs)\, and cumbias (rhythmic dance songs).
