DESCRIPTION:Drawing Opens April 11th\nCalling all record collectors and vinyl lovers! Record Store Day returns to independent record shops around the world on April 12th\, 2025. In an effort to showcase the incredible independent record stores in and around the Motor City\, WDET is offering an exclusive Record Store Day member drawing! The first Record Store Day took place on April 19\, 2008. Today\, Record Store Day is celebrated at independently-owned brick-and-mortar record stores around the world. \nThis is a day for the people who make up the world of the record store—the staff\, the customers\, and the artists—to come together and celebrate the unique culture of a record store and the special role they play in their communities. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day. Festivities include performances\, cook-outs\, body painting\, meet & greets with artists\, parades\, DJs spinning records\, and on and on. In 2008 a small list of titles was released on Record Store Day and that list has grown to include artists and labels both large and small\, in every genre and price point. For several years\, 60% or more of the Record Store Day Official Release List came from independent labels and distributors. The list continues to include a wide range of artists\, covering the diverse taste of record stores and their customers.” – Courtesy of recordstoreday.com \nFor a list of local independent record stores participating in Record Store Day on April 12th\, click here. \n*You must make a donation through wdet.org/give between 12:00AM on April 11th and 11:59PM on April 12th to be entered into the drawing. She recently started the Mabel Gray Champagne Society in 2023. \nMary Davis is the General Manager and Wine Curator at TAKOI in Detroit. Ann Delisi’s Essential Cooking visited TAKOI in October 2024. \n**************************************************************************************************************** \nDue to the nature of this event\, there will be no menu substitutions.
