His comedy has been featured on Comedy Central\, NPR\, and The Moth. He has worked with comics such as Judd Apatow\, Roy Wood Jr.\, Mark Normand\, Rory Scovel\, and Michelle Wolf\, among others. Esteban was invited to perform in Clusterfest in San Francisco\, at the NBC Second City Break Out Festival in Chicago\, and at the Comedy on State “Best of the Midwest” showcase. The U.S. Government officially declared him an “authorized legal alien with a reentry permit.” \nMelanie Hearn\nMelanie is a fast rising talent on the Metro Detroit comedy scene\, is a native of The “D”  and has always enjoyed entertaining people. As a graduate of Bill Bushart’s comedy class at the world famous Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle earlier this year\, Melanie has hit the ground running. She has been sweeping the scene as Winner of the “Jumpstart your Comedy Career Contest” at Joey’s Comedy Shop\, recent winner of The “Big Money Contest” at Laff Tracks Comedy Club and Finalist in the Woodward Comedy Competition. Such opportunities have afforded her the opportunity to emcee across the state and open for nationally known comedian Mike Bonner. In just a few short months Melanie has made her presence known around town for her versatile mix of realism and sass she’s just as nice as she is naughty. Melanie delivers a fun high energy show that really gets the crowd involved in her act. DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered when and what fish eat?\n\nIn Great Lakes Now’s March First Friday Watch Party\, go behind the scenes at the Belle Isle Aquarium to see the process of shopping\, preparing and feeding the residents at the aquarium.\n\nAquarium Curator Paul Shuert takes us to Eastern Market for fresh veggies\, and then and Senior Aquarist Amanda Murray takes us to the aquarium prep kitchen and then to the tanks to feed the fish!\n\nIn this watch party\, we’ll check out a video documenting the weekly large feeding at the aquarium and then GLN Producer Anna Sysling speaks with Shuert and Murray about the process of feeding the fish and the different nutritional needs for the different species including seahorses\, walleye and stingrays.

A presentation about their practices will be followed by a Q&A based conversation.\n\n\n\nThis program is a collaboration between Kresge Arts in Detroit and WDET and is part of Kresge Arts in Detroit’s mission to advance and showcase the work of Kresge Artist Fellows and Gilda Awardees\, provide space for growth and discovery\, and further the connection between Kresge artists and the wider arts community. \nSabrina Nelson was born on the heels of ’67 Detroit Rebellion. She has been creating art professionally for over 36 years\, exhibiting in the Midwest\, South Florida\, San Francisco\, New Orleans\, New York and Paris. Nelson has worked at the Detroit Institute of Arts for over 25 years. She sees herself as a visual witness to the tumultuous times she lives in and\, as a self-identified “Artivist\,” reflects this in her work. She is also committed to mentoring young artists and designers in the business as making it as an artist. \nBased in Hamtramck\, Graem Whyte is an artist born and raised in Metro Detroit. His work utilizes a wide array of materials and fuses sculpture\, architecture\, installation and relational art. He has exhibited nationally and internationally\, and has received several rewards for his work. He is the co-founder and artistic director of the arts venue\, Popps Packing\, and teaches foundry at the College for Creative Studies. \nCinnamon Triano is a documentary filmmaker and artist living in Detroit. In 2012\, she received her BFA in video and films arts from the Maryland Institute College of Arts in Baltimore\, Maryland. She spent the next five years traveling internationally to work on cinema verite projects\, often living with her documentary subjects long term and filming their everyday lives. Triano works professionally as a camera operator and producer on documentary films and commercial content. Using drawn and photographed elements\, she also creates surreal portraits and animated video collages. Recently\, she worked as an associate producer on the horror feature “We Need To Do Something\,” and a field producer on the Netflix Docuseries “Cheer.” \n[accessibility note: ASL interpretation will be provided during this event] \n
