DESCRIPTION:The Moth StorySLAM is an open-mic storytelling competition in which anyone can share a true\, personal\, 5-minute story on the night’s theme. Sign up for a chance to tell a story or sit back and enjoy the show! \nThis month’s theme is “revenge.” Prepare a five-minute story about retaliation. Proportional justice\, payback\, comeuppance and laughing last. You can serve it up cold or simply live well and sometimes karma steps in and does all the work for you. Tell us about when they got theirs or you got yours. Revenge can consume you to ruin or give you the satisfaction necessary to move on. Do unto others what they have done to you. \nDoors open: 6:30 p.m.\nShow starts: 7:30 p.m. \nTickets for Detroit’s StorySLAMs go on sale three weeks prior to the show date at 3 p.m. ET. \nSeating is not guaranteed and is available on a first-come\, first-served basis. Please be sure to arrive at least 10 minutes before the show. Admission is not guaranteed for late arrivals. All sales final. DESCRIPTION:WDET wraps up its fiscal year on September 30th and we couldn’t think of a better way to end the year than with a dinner at Mabel Gray restaurant in Hazel Park where our Essential Cooking dinners began many years ago. \nJoin us on Monday\, September 11th at Mabel Gray\, as James Beard Award Winning Chef James Rigato will prepare a 5-course dinner with a wine pairing to support WDET and the Mabel Gray staff. This promises to be a culinary adventure created by Chef Rigato\, and served by some of the most knowledgable and dedicated restaurant teams in Metro Detroit who are graciously opening their doors to us to benefit WDET. \nTickets are $250 \nDoors at 6:30pm. The Oscar-winning documentary film follows two South Africans’ pursuit to find their musical hero — beloved Detroiter Sixto Rodriguez. He was a musician\, songwriter\, singer\, lifelong Detroiter and friend to WDET. \nShow begins promptly at 7PM. \nTickets are $10.50. \nThe Detroit Film Theatre is located at the John R entrance of the DIA. \nAssistive listening devices will be available.
