Detroit Neighborhoods Day to Celebrate Community with 250 Events around the City
The 9th annual Neighborhoods Day will bring clean-ups, festivals, and parades to Detroit.
Groups from every zip code in Detroit are hosting neighborhood events next week. More than 100 city clean-ups, as well as some concerts and parades, will pop up around Detroit as part of the group ARISE Detroit’s Neighborhoods Day. ARISE Detroit Executive Director Luther Keith says his organization’s been holding the event for the past nine years.
“Long before there was talk about Detroit coming back, at a time when Detroit was written off, at a time when people said Detroit didn’t have a future, and these people all over the city said, ‘No, we know we have a future. We know we’re gonna be back. We know we’re coming back. We believe in our city enough where we’re gonna start this right now.’”

Keith says there are more than 250 events planned so far. He says Neighborhoods Day will take place August 1st.
