Detroit Head Start Programs Accepting Applications
More than 1,500 Head Start spots are open in Detroit for children aged 0-5 years old.
Detroit Head Start officials are looking for about 1,500 new students this fall. Parents of children five years old or younger, if eligible, can apply to receive free education and family support through the program. Detroit Head Start consultant Annemarie Harris says enrolled students will be cared for by qualified, early-childhood teachers.
“They’ll be exposed to math and reading and science and lots of play-based activities. They’re also given free meals as part of the program. “

Harris says Head Start has expanded services for infants and toddlers this year. She says to enroll, parents will need to schedule a site visit at one of the more than 60 Head Start locations around the city.
