Meet Robert Livernois, Superintendent of Warren Consolidated Schools
What’s happening in the Warren Consolidated Schools system this year?
Superintendent of Warren Consolidated Schools Robert Livernois discusses issues with school funding, new programs, and student enrollment for the upcoming school year on today’s show.
- New program: State law for Kindergarten enrollment now requires students to be at least five years of age by September 1, instead of the previous December 1 date. In response, the Warren Consolidated School District has created a transitional kindergarten program.
- Dealing with poverty: The district has over 50 percent free/reduced lunches and has taken a strong role in combating poverty with expansion of the Blessings in a Backpack program.
- Funding challenges: Warren Consolidated Schools now faces enrollment and funding declines due to the increased ability of residents to enroll in other districts, charter schools, and private schools.
