Who’s Waiting? Band Postpones Detroit Show Due to Illness
The Who is postponing its North American tour until next year, after lead singer Roger Daltrey became ill.
The seminal rock band The Who is postponing the remainder of its North American tour, including a concert scheduled in Detroit, because the group’s lead singer has been struck with an illness.
Over 30 years ago The Who began the first of many so-called “farewell” tours.
The band’s last surviving original members, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, vow that this latest tour celebrating The Who’s half-century of existence will be the final “final tour.”
But that send-off, including a stop at Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena, is being pushed back to 2016 after the group says lead singer Daltery was diagnosed with viral meningitis and ordered to rest.
Earlier this month the band canceled several shows while Daltrey says he was in and out of the hospital.
The group says tickets for the original concerts will be still be good for the rescheduled performances, when Townshend pledges the band will “come back stronger than ever and give you all a show to remember.”
