Longest-serving member in history of Congress John Dingell released from hospital after receiving a pacemaker.

Retired Michigan Congressman John Dingell has been released from a hospital after undergoing a heart procedure.

The 89-year-old Dingell was in the hospital for several days last week.

His wife, current Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, says in a statement that her husband had a biventricular pacemaker implanted.

John Dingell, who is the longest-serving member in the history of Congress, spent several weeks in a hospital last year after suffering a hip fracture.

He has become a fan of Twitter, tweeting statements his staff swear are actually written by the former Congressman.

In one of his latest Dingell wrote that he went in for heart surgery and “came out to a new ‘Moments’ button on Twitter. Not sure which one is more annoying so far.”
