UAW Ratifies New Contract With Fiat Chrysler, Sets Sights on GM
UAW members overwhelmingly ratified a new four-year contract with Fiat Chrysler after rejecting a previous deal.
The United Auto Workers’ rank-and-file has ratified a new four-year contract with Fiat Chrysler.
More than three-quarters of the UAW membership reportedly approved the agreement, the second put forward after workers resoundingly defeated a previous tentative deal.
UAW officials say they will now turn their attention to General Motors.
The Director of the Labor and Industry group at the Ann Arbor-based Center for Automotive Research – Kristin Dziczek – tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter the new agreement with Fiat Chrysler does not cost the automaker more money.
But she says it does repackage the deal in a more appealing way to union members.
