Black Friday Deals Boost November Auto Sales
Hyundai saw largest increase; VW sales drop amid emissions scandal.
Several automakers reported their best November sales in years. Fiat Chrysler says its sales rose three percent to their highest level since 2000. Hyundai reported a 12 percent increase, while Volkswagen sales fell 25 percent after the company admitted its diesel vehicles were programmed to cheat U.S. government emissions tests. Paul Eisenstein publishes The Detroit Bureau, which reports on the auto industry. He tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller there were several factors that drove the surge in new car and truck sales.
