Mott Foundation Awards $600,000 in Grants to Flint Agencies
The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation is awarding six grants totaling $600,000 to help low-income families.
The Mott Foundation is giving about 600 thousand dollars in grant money to agencies in Flint who help the needy during the winter. The money was divided among six different organizations …including the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, The Salvation Army Of Genesee County, and the Shelter of Flint.
Mott Associate Program Officer Chris Stallworth says Flint area agencies were chosen because the city is the foundation’s hometown.
“We have been in this community since 1928. And we have always and will continue to provide support to our hometown,” Stallworth says.
Stallworth says the money will be used to provide meals, shelter, and help with utilities for residents who are struggling. The Mott Foundation has also provided about four-point-one million dollars in the last year to help with Flint’s water crisis.
