Flint Mayor Outlines Plan to Remove Lead Pipes
Flint Mayor Karen Weaver says she is working with the Lansing Board of Water and Light to remove lead pipes.
Flint Mayor Karen Weaver outlined plans Tuesday to replace all lead pipes in Flint residents’ homes.
Weaver says it will cost 55 million dollars to remove all 15 thousand lead pipes in the city’s residential areas.
She says the success of her plan requires federal and state funding.
“I’m asking Governor Snyder and the state to partner with us on this effort. We’ll let the investigations determine who’s to blame for Flint’s Water Crisis, but I’m focused on solving it,” Weaver says.
Weaver says she will accept any assistance given from any source to make sure that Flint water will soon be free of lead.
She says the city will work hard to restore safe drinking water for residents one house at a time.
