This is Severe Weather Awareness week in Michigan, and with severe weather often comes power outages. When they happen, DTE Energy gets the word out to the media. They let WDET and other broadcasters know how many customers are without electricity, and how long they might be out. Then, stations share that information with listeners and viewers. The company briefs the media every year on its storm response plan. WDET’s Pat Batcheller attended this year’s “storm school”, and spoke with Heather Rivard. She’s DTE’s Vice President of Distribution Operations. She tells Pat the company starts planning for severe weather at least a couple of days before it hits.Click on the audio player to hear the conversation.
