Dr. Mona Hannah-Attisha to Receive “Champion of Justice” Award
The Flint doctor credited with exposing the lead-poisoning of children is being honored by ACCESS.
A key figure in the Flint Water Crisis is being honored by the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services, or ACCESS. Dr. Mona Hannah-Attisha will receive the “Champion of Justice” award for her work calling attention to lead exposure in Flint.
Hassan Jaber is the CEO of ACCESS. He says Hannah-Attisha will be the first recipient of the award.
“We are doing it simply because we are inspired by what Dr. Mona Hannah-Attisha has done. And we want to encourage others and promote the example of standing up for justice,” Jaber says.
Jaber says the group chose Hannah-Attisha for the courage she has shown standing up for the Flint community. She’ll receive the award at ACCESS’ 45th Annual Dinner on Saturday in Detroit.
