Congresswoman Questions Debris on Surgical Equipment at Ann Arbor VA Hospital
Several procedures have been cancelled at Ann Arbor VA after specks found on surgical equipment.
Officials with the Veterans Administration health system in Ann Arbor say they are working to correct a problem that has forced several procedures to be cancelled: Erasing tiny particles found contaminating some surgical equipment.
Nurses first noticed the particles in November.
The hospital thought it had got rid of them. But by March the particles had reappeared.
That got the attention of members of Michigan’s Congressional delegation, including Dearborn Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Dingell.
She tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter the contamination is cause for concern.
