MIchigan Activists Oppose Senator Jeff Sessions Nomination for US Attorney General
Michigan activists claim Sessions is not a proper fit for the job.
Several Michigan civil rights organizations are opposing President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Senator Jeff Sessions as U-S Attorney General.
Sessions has been criticized for allegedly making racially insensitive remarks while working as an Assistant US Attorney. His nomination to become a federal judge was blocked in 1986.
Bishop Herman Starks with Michigan United says if he is too racist to be a judge, he is too racist to be Attorney General.
“No one wanted this particular individual to be in that particular position. So if this individual cannot be a judge, why in the world would we want him to be the attorney general?” Starks says.
Starks says the next Attorney General must have respect for civil rights and equal protection under the law.
