This Old House Announces Second Project In Detroit
“The transformation has been overwhelming,” says homeowner Frank Polk, a former Detroit firefighter.
The cast and crew of the PBS home improvement program This Old House have been in Detroit for several months now fixing up a house in Russell Woods. The show will begin airing episodes from that project on March 30th.
Now, This Old House has announced a second project in Detroit, this time in the Crary-St. Mary’s section of Grandmont-Rosedale.
The guys of This Old House stopped by WDET a couple months ago to talk about their current project. The show’s general contractor Tom Silva and homeowner Frank Polk join Detroit Today with Stephen Henderson again to give an update on the project and talk about the show’s recent focus on Detroit.
“When it was first said that we’re going to out (to Detroit)… I’m thinking that it’s really going to be bad out there,” says Silva. “And there are sections, obviously, of Detroit that are pretty bad. But I was very impressed by the neighborhood. I thought it was very nice.”
Polk says he’s excited about his “new old house.”
“The transformation has been overwhelming,” says the former Detroit firefighter. “We’re just looking forward to moving in sometime real soon, maybe some time in the next couple of weeks. The changes that have taken place are just phenomenal.”
