The Science Behind This Relatively Warm Weather
Local 4 meteorologist Paul Gross explains why we’ve seen mid-60s in February.
This has been one of the warmest Februaries ever in Southeast Michigan. The average mean daily temperature as of Feb. 22 was 35.8 degrees Fahrenheit, which currently ranks as the third warmest February since the National Weather Service started keeping records for Detroit in 1874. Feb. 24’s predicted high of 66 would break the record of 59 set in 1976.
