What Would Halt to Fuel Mandates Mean for Auto Industry?

A look at the relationship President Trump is forging with the auto industry in Detroit.

President Donald Trump says it’s time to rethink America’s fuel economy mandates. He made that announcement during a visit to Michigan this week. Trump spoke with auto executives and gave a speech at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti. He says he’ll reopen a review of the Obama administration’s mandate that cars achieve the equivalent of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025. He also urged auto executives to create more American jobs and open new plants in Michigan and elsewhere in the United States.

Paul Eisenstein, publisher of The Detroit Bureau, joins Detroit Today host Stephen Henderson to talk about Trump’s relationship with the autos.
