John Dingell Being Treated for Apparent Heart Attack

Ex-U.S. Rep. John Dingell, the longest serving member in the history of Congress, suffered what family members say may have been a small heart attack. He officially left Congress in 2015 after almost 60 years representing Michigan.

Former Michigan Congressman John Dingell, the longest-serving member in the history of Congress, has been hospitalized for what’s being described as an apparent heart attack.

Even in retirement…Dingell has remained a potent critic of political policies.

Dingell left Congress in 2015 after almost six decades in office, citing ill health that restricted him to using canes and wheelchairs.

But Dingell also said at the time he’d tired of a U-S House grown so partisan he described it as “vicious” and “unbearable.”

Instead the 92-year-old has taken to Twitter to vent about everything from NFL kickers to the Trump Administration, recently writing that the President was an “embarrassment of a human” for questioning the number of people who died after Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico last year.

His wife is current U.S Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI.)

She says in a statement her husband was cracking jokes and in good spirits while being evaluated at a Metro Detroit hospital.
