New Carpenters Union Training Center Could Transform Neighborhood In Need
The new training facility will change nearly every dynamic in the neighborhood.
The big news on Monday was an announcement that the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights will build its new southeast Michigan training facility in Detroit. It which will open up new opportunities for city residents to gain valuable, lifelong skills.
This new training facility will be located at the end of the block from where The Tuxedo Project is located. That’s the neighborhood community and literary arts center founded by Detroit Today host Stephen Henderson, located in the home where he was born.
The new training facility will change nearly every dynamic in the neighborhood. Specifically, this facility will provide economic opportunity.
Mike Jackson is the executive secretary treasurer at the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters.
Rose Gorman is the resident fellow for the Tuxedo Project.
