UAW Strike Against GM: Costly, but Not Catastrophic for Corporate Profits
How badly did the 40-day UAW strike hurt General Motors? It took a significant bite out of the Detroit automakers’ revenue. But analysts say GM still sold cars during the strike and turned a profit in the third quarter of the year.
Officials with General Motors say its revenue took a multi-billion dollar hit because of the recent United Auto Workers strike.
But the company also earned billions of dollars in profit right before the strike began.
The executive analyst for Cox Automotive, Michelle Krebs, tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter GM appears to have weathered the work-stoppage with little lasting financial damage.
