Big Ten Reverses, Schedules Season Start For Oct. 24th.
While the college conference had originally cancelled all games due to the risk of spreading COVID-19, officials now say each school will play an eight game schedule.
The Big Ten says it will play its first football games of the season on October 24th.
The move reverses course on the conference’s previous decision to cancel all games due to the COVID pandemic. Big Ten officials say each school will play an eight game schedule with an additional ninth matchup for all teams on conference championship weekend, now set for December 19th.
Officials say student-athletes, coaches and other program personnel will be tested daily for COVID during the season.
Those results will need to be recorded before any on-field activity can take place.
