Michigan Accepting Proposals for Minority Health Inequity Awareness
The request comes during Minority Health Month and the the 10th anniversary of the Michigan Minority Health law.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is seeking proposals to address ethnic and racial health inequality. The agency is calling on non-government organizations, schools, and hospitals to lead conversations on health issues facing minority groups. Spokesperson Bob Wheaton says minority populations face some health problems more than others.
“That’s a challenge for Michigan and other states. Different minority groups may be disproportionally affected by diseases such as diabetes or heart diseases or certain types of cancer.”

Wheaton says the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has a budget of nearly $900,000 to fund minority health programs. He says proposals for the initiative are due March 7th.
