The Reverend Nicholas Hood Remembered As Civil Rights Activist

The Reverend Nicholas Hood has died.  He was 92 years old.

Hood was Minister Emeritus at Plymouth Congregational Church of Christ in Detroit.  He became Senior Minister there in 1958.

But Hood was also known for his work as a member of Detroit City Council.  He decided not to run for re-election in 1993 — retiring from Council after 28 years in office.

And Hood had a distinguished record of working for Civil Rights…marching down Woodward Avenue with Doctor Martin Luther King, Junior and 100,000 others in June 1963.

Hood came to the WDET studios to talk to Jerome Vaughn back in 2013 – reminiscing about his experiences at the 1963 March on Washington.
