Greening of Detroit Adds Programs and Launches Detroit Conservation Corp

New workforce training program significantly increases participation goal to train landscape professionals

The City of Detroit recently received over 50 million dollars from the federal government to continue its demolition of blighted houses. Every house that is torn down leaves an empty lot and that means additional work for The Greening of Detroit. The organization started decades ago with a mission to plant trees throughout the city. But Greening spokesperson Trish Hubbell tells WDET’s Amy Miller that Detroit’s revival is allowing the organization to continue its work while also expanding a workforce training program.
