Detroit leaders announced a $203 million plan today to address affordable housing and higher rent in the city. The 7-point plan includes renovations of vacant apartment buildings, assistance for purchases from the Detroit Land Bank, and a new centralized Housing Services Division. The projects will be funded through the city’s American Rescue Plan Act money. The plan hopes to speed up approval for low-income families to purchase or rent homes.
