New local dining guide gives the power back to the people
Tostada Magazine and BridgeDetroit are partnering to create the Anti-Gentrifiers’ Guide to Dining in Detroit.
Here in the city of Detroit, two local media outlets are teaming up to create a community-focused dining guide. It’s about giving you a voice – as opposed to food critics or Yelp reviewers – in order to highlight some of the restaurants that are part of your life but don’t get the shine they deserve.
To have a conversation about that and what the Anti-Gentrifiers’ Guide to Dining in Detroit really is, CultureShift speaks with two of the people behind this project, including Serena Maria Daniels, editor and founder of Tostada Magazine, and Orlando Bailey, engagement director for BridgeDetroit.
“We see this as an opportunity to amplify hyperlocal community, to amplify culture and culture expansion and preservation… so this is exciting. I’m into it, I’m really interested to see what people come up with.” – Orlando Bailey, BridgeDetroit
