Detroit Federation of Teachers Prepares for New Realities in a New School District

DPS reform bills leave the future of the union and its members uncertain.

The teachers and staff at the Detroit Public Schools have been waiting for state lawmakers to take action on controversial DPS reforms that would determine what the district will look like next year. The measures will  determine what the union contracts — which end this month — might look like as well.

 WDET’s Sascha Raiyn explores some of the questions and concerns still unanswered now that reform proposals have moved from the state legislature to the governor for approval.
