Pipeline Problems Add to Higher Gas Prices
Interruptions at Marathon refinery in Detroit was one factor in 85 percent price increase.
Gasoline prices in the Detroit area have nearly doubled in the last four months. Gasbuddy.com reports that the average price in the region has risen from $1.44 per gallon in mid-February to $2.67 now. That’s an 85 percent increase. Gasbuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller that problems at Midwestern refineries, including Marathon‘s in southwest Detroit, were among several factors that caused prices to rise.
