The advisory covers Wayne, Monroe and Lenawee counties. Detroiters could see 6-8 inches of snow accumulation beginning Wednesday morning and throughout the day.
Forecasters say the heaviest snow will arrive in the late morning and afternoon, warning drivers to expect difficult travel during the evening commute.
Residents can prepare their cars for the upcoming winter weather by filling their tanks with gas, checking tires for proper air pressure, and topping off windshield wiper fluid. A flashlight, windshield scraper and a blanket are also recommended to have in their emergency kit during severe weather.
AAA advises motorists to drive more slowly and increase the distance between your vehicle and the car ahead of you since it takes longer to come to a complete stop due to snow and ice on the road.
