Detroit Today: Dan Kildee on his decision not to run for reelection
The Michigan congressman spoke with Stephen Henderson about his decision to step down and his accomplishments in the role.
Earlier this month, Michigan U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee (D-Flint) announced that after serving six terms in Congress, he will not seek reelection in 2024 following a recent cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment.
“While my name will not be on the ballot next November, I will be doing everything I can to help elect common sense, principled and results-oriented leaders,” he said on social media. “For the remainder of my term, I will continue bringing the same passion, work ethic and drive to help our community and my constituents. My congressional offices will remain open and available to assist anyone in the district who needs help.”
The Michigan congressman spoke with Detroit Today host Stephen Henderson on Monday about his decision to step down, his accomplishments in the role and how politics has changed since he was elected in 2013.
