Getting a Job Can Be More Complicated for Some Detroiters

Some chronically under and unemployed have hurdles not faced by others

One of Detroit’s biggest employment services is beefing up its mission with a new C-E-O. The Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation is an anchor employment service in the city working with dozens of local businesses under the Michigan Works! Program. The organization recently hired Nicole Sherard-Freeman as C-E-O. She tells WDET’s Amy Miller that having more jobs available in the city is great news for people with barriers to employment, but she says it’s only part of the solution.
