Although many of us are in full holiday mode this time of year, there’s still plenty happening in the news.

Donald Trump is currently on a victory tour as his transition team works to fill cabinet positions. Green Party candidate Dr. Jill Stein is spearheading what would be an unprecendented multi-state recount effort. State elections officials are about to decide whether Michigan will be part of that series of presidential recounts. And state lawmakers in Michigan are gearing up to pass a slew of controversial bills during its “lame duck” session.

Detroit News Editorial Page Editor Nolan Finley joins Detroit Today with Stephen Henderson to help break down the week’s news.

“I don’t like lame duck at all,” says Finley. “I think people who are no longer accountable to the voters shouldn’t be making long-term policy and significant changes in the state.”
