Senate to Grill Education Secretary Nominee DeVos Next Week

A U.S. Senate committee holds hearings next week on DOE Secretary nominee and school choice advocate Betsy DeVos.

Members of the U.S. Senate will hold hearings next week on President-elect Donald Trump’s choice to become the next Education Secretary, Michigan’s Betsy DeVos.

Trump nominated DeVos to lead the U.S. Department of Education in November.

The Grand Rapids philanthropist is a former chair of the Michigan Republican Party and a long-time advocate for school choice programs.

She has also pushed for the election of pro-school choice legislators throughout the nation.

The U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions will hold a hearing on DeVos’ nomination next week.

If DeVos makes it through that hearing her nomination will then be considered by the full Senate.
