Wayne County Starts Foreclosure Hearings [VIDEO]

People with unpaid 2014 taxes don’t have to lose their homes.

Wayne County homeowners facing tax foreclosure in 2017 will have a chance to explain why they should not lose their homes. The county treasurer’s office begins a series of “show cause” hearings on Tuesday, Jan. 10 for property owners with unpaid 2014 taxes. Treasurer Eric Sabree tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller they’ll find out what options they have for settling their debts. Sabree says the county seized 14,000 foreclosed properties and put them up for auction in 2016. Click on the audio player to hear the conversation.

Show cause hearings will be held on Jan. 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, and 25 at the Wayne County Treasurer’s office at 400 Monroe St. in downtown Detroit.
