MSP is Holding a Women’s Recruiting Seminar
The goal is to inform potential troopers of opportunities available and what it’s like to be a woman on the force.
The Michigan State Police wants to answer any questions prospective troopers might have about what it’s like to be a woman on the force.
MSP is hosting a Women’s Recruiting Seminar next month where the agency will provide insight on the lifestyle and opportunities for women in law enforcement.
First Lieutenant Michael Shaw says the goal is to be able to answer questions about being a trooper that a man can’t answer.
“Some of the questions that I’ve heard women ask during the seminar are: “What it’s like to be a single mom?” or “How do you handle bigger male suspects being a female?”” Shaw says.
Shaw says some women feel more comfortable asking certain questions in an all-female environment.
He says the ultimate goal is to build a more diverse police force.
