Biden Tells Detroit NAACP Baltimore Unrest Must Unite Nation, Not Splinter It
Vice President Joe Biden tells Detroit NAACP Baltimore unrest should bring nation together, not splinter it apart.
Vice President Joe Biden says the recent unrest in Baltimore should serve to bring the nation together, not splinter it apart.
The Vice President spoke last night at the Detroit branch of the NAACP.
Biden told the overwhelmingly African American crowd that despite the anger over the death of a Baltimore man held in police custody both young black men and police officers have the right to be safe.
Biden says he echoes President Obama’s view of the tragedy.
“He said there are police departments that need to do some soul searching,” Biden said. “There are communities that have to do some soul searching. We have to be able to see each other again.”
The Vice President was the keynote speaker at the NAACP’s Freedom Fund Dinner, which annually draws a crowd of thousands.
