University of Michigan Researchers Explore How Virtual Schooling Affects Students’ Academic Performance
University of Michigan asks the question: which is a better learning method, in-school or online?
Researchers at the University of Michigan are analyzing how studying in a classroom or online impacts academic performance. The University will partner with the Florida Virtual School to conduct the study.
University of Michigan economics professor Brian Jacob tells WDET’s Ron Lyons Jr that he hopes the study dispels some preconceptions about virtual learning, including views held by the researchers themselves.
“We come in thinking that there’s probably some advantages as well as disadvantages of virtual schools. Virtual schooling may be more effective for some children than for other children,” says Jacob.
The program will run over a three-year period.
