Ann Arbor Holds First “Tech Trek”, Touts Startup Ecosystem

Ann Arbor SPARK hosts open-house style “Tech Trek” to showcase the city’s emerging technology industries.

Some start-up companies in Ann Arbor are opening their doors to students, families, and job seekers. It’s called the Ann Arbor Tech Trek, a one-day, open-house style tour of innovative workplaces like the Google office in Ann Arbor. Organizer Bill Mayer says the event should help inspire young talent plotting their future.

“We would have school aged children that like technology that maybe are thinking, ‘I’d love to start my own startup company someday.’ They can experience what it might be like for them, after they graduate from college, have a good STEM education… ‘I could do something really cool after I graduate.’”

Bill Mayer, Vice President of Entrepreneurial Services at Ann Arbor SPARK

Mayer says companies will demonstrate products and encourage conversations between employees and visitors. The Ann Arbor Tech Trek will take place Friday, June 12th.
