Hillary Clinton Telephones Detroit Fast Food Workers, Offers to Be Their ‘Champion’
Hillary Clinton, shoring-up union support, told fast food workers in Detroit (by phone) she wants to “champion” them.
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton told a crowd in Detroit she wants to be a champion for union workers.
The former First Lady, U.S. Senator and Secretary of State literally phoned it in to a conference of more than 1,300 fast food workers gathered in Detroit to push for a $15-an-hour minimum wage.
Speaking by telephone Clinton said no one who works hard to feed America’s families should have to be on food stamps to feed their own.
Aides for the Democratic presidential contender say Clinton was not specifically endorsing a $15 minimum wage but does support the right to collectively bargain for higher pay.
It marks the latest effort by the Clinton campaign to shore-up union support.
The so called “Fight for 15” is backed by the Service Employees International Union.
