Billionaire Investor Kerkorian Shook Up Vegas, Detroit

Casino tycoon Kirk Kerkorian, who made several attempts to gain control of Detroit automakers, has died at age 98.

A billionaire investor who shook-up two major interests in Detroit – gaming and the auto industry – has passed away.

Kirk Kerkorian died Monday at the age of 98.

He held a majority of stock in MGM Resorts until recent years and bought and sold MGM Studios several times.

He also made several efforts to buy Chrysler and General Motors.

Long-time auto analyst Dave Cole tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter that Kerkorian was sometimes feared in Detroit, but never ignored.
