New Shuttle from Detroit to Metro Airport in the Works
Officials are seeking proposals for an efficient, reasonably-priced shuttle between Detroit and DTW.
Southeast Michigan’s Regional Transit Authority is seeking a new mode of transportation between Detroit and Metro Airport. RTA spokesperson Travis Gonyou says the organization is asking for proposals for efficient, reasonably-priced shuttle service between Metro Airport and Macomb, Oakland and Wayne Counties.
He says Ann Arbor’s Michigan Flyer is the benchmark for airport transit in the region.
“In Ann Arbor right now it’s $12 if you buy the ticket in advance, I think it’s 15 if you show up day of, and that’s connected to a local parking structure giving flexible rates for long term stay, so we want to be able to solve for that issue as well when we establish the new services.”

Gonyou says each future shuttle will likely have one or two pick-up stops, and then go directly to the airport. He says he expects the service will begin operating next summer.
