Wayne County CEO to Create Partnerships to Help Improve Roads
Wayne County Executive Warren Evans is looking to partner with local communities to better use funding for road repairs.
Wayne County Executive Warren Evans is seeking out partnerships to effectively fix roads. Evans says the plans to work with local governments will better allocate funding for infrastructure.
He says his collaboration with Hamtramck’s city manager to fix roads like Conant Street is a good example.
“That’s what county government should be about. It should be about working with communities to do what we can to fix problems,” Evans says. “Certainly the roads are a bigger problem than we can fix by ourselves. But it is certainly something that we can be doing while we are trying to implore Lansing to do a better job at actual funding.”
Evans says the county only has less than $24 million to complete 14 capital projects in this fiscal year. He says seven of those projects are already underway or have been completed.
