Knudsen Park Receives $100,000 Upgrade
Duggan and 8 Mile Boulevard Association cut the ribbon on restored park in Detroit.
The Eight Mile Boulevard Association will officially adopt a park after spending nearly $100,000 on improvements. For years, Knudsen Park at Eight Mile road was maintained by resident Elliot Jones.
Jones lives next to the field. He says he’s excited to see the association taking over the park.
“They assisted me in getting the park. They took down the fencing that was around here,” Jones says. “They also helped move some rubbish. We had dumping going on here that filled up almost a whole lot with debris. And they’ve been helping keeping it clean.”
The Eight Mile Boulevard Association installed a new swing set, basketball court, and benches around the playground.
The organization says it’s asking neighborhood groups if they will join in adopting the park.
