Toyota Recalls 6.5 Million Vehicles
Toyota is recalling 6.5 million vehicles globally due to faulty power windows.
Toyota is recalling 6.5 million vehicles globally due to faulty power windows. That includes about 2.7 million cars and SUV’s in North America. The window switches lack proper lubrication and are prone to short-circuit or overheat which could cause a fire.
Autotrader.com Senior Analyst Michelle Krebs says though inconvenient the recall is a positive sign.
“Ever since Toyota had its massive recalls regarding sudden acceleration in the 2009-2010 time frame they have been much more proactive about doing recalls when there are problems so that is the upside of this,” Krebs says.
Krebs says this is the fourth time the automaker has issued a recall for this issue. Affected vehicles include the Camry, RAV four, and the Highlander from the 2006 to 2011 model years.
