Detroit’s Historic Fisher, Kahn Buildings Sold
The iconic Fisher and Albert Kahn buildings have sold for more than $12 million in an online auction.
Detroit’s iconic Fisher and Albert Kahn buildings have a new owner.
The buildings were sold after a three-day online auction.
The buildings, both rich with art deco styling, were sold as part of a package deal that also includes more than 2,000 parking spaces spread over two garages and three lots.
The top bid for the buildings came in at more than $12 million.
They were last sold in 2001 for more than $30 million.
The two buildings in the city’s New Center area are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Fisher Building is a well-known part of Detroit’s skyline and home to the historic Fisher Theatre as well as a radio station, Detroit Public School offices and the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan, among others.
The Albert Kahn building houses the firm that bears the name of the renowned architect.
The name of the building’s purchaser has not been made public and the winning bid must still be confirmed.
