A New Season for Detroit City FC

“Le Rouge” opens 2016 slate at Oakland University

While Major League Soccer considers future expansion team in downtown Detroit, the city’s semi-professional side begins a new season Wednesday, May 11. Detroit City Football Club plays the Michigan Bucks in the first round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Oakland University. Detroit City FC co-owner Alex Wright tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller the tournament is open to amateur and professional teams from across the country. Wright also says “Le Rouge” is putting the finishing touches on its new home, Hamtramck’s Keyworth Stadium. He also talked about the MLS proposal pitched by businessmen Dan Gilbert and Tom Gores.
