The Movement ’16 Show with an Amp Fiddler + Will Sessions WORLD PREMIER!
Tracks from artists playing Movement Electronic Music Festival, with Tiga, Caribou, Kraftwerk, Carl Craig & more!
The last weekend in May marks not only a national holiday, but a global tradition.
Indeed Memorial Day weekend is that special time of year in Detroit, a furious 72 hours during which tens of thousands of fans from around the world gather downtown at Hart Plaza for the Movement Electronic Music Festival.
We’re spinning tunes from artists playing the fest, including Caribou’s smash hit “Can’t Do Without You,”a Modeselektor Radiohead remix, a couple Detroit classics and, yes, the show wouldn’t be complete without hearing some Kraftwerk, as the iconic German proto-techno outfit is headlining in 3D.
And stay-tuned for a Culture City world premier (queue the hip-hop air horns)! It’s a Detroit collaboration for the ages, folks.
Amp fiddler and Will Sessions are making the funkiest music outta Detroit in (at least) a decade. They’ll join us live in studio. The collab we’re referring to as “Amp Sessions” will perform at Movement on Sunday, May 29th at 9:30 PM at the Red Bull Music Academy Stage, delivering a few mind-blowing originals, as well as P-Funk cuts, Moodymann covers, and some of Amp’s hits, including remix from the late and legendary producer and personal friend of Fiddler’s J Dilla. It’s a Culture City favorite.
